Pedodontists, also known as pediatric dentists, specialize in the treatment of primary, or “baby,” teeth and the specific dental problems that arise in children. Pedodontists treat children from the time they are infants through adolescence, guiding their growth and development, and working to prevent future dental problems. One area of a pedodontist’s expertise is dealing with child behavior. They are particularly skilled at making children feel comfortable while at the dental office. In addition, pedodontists are trained to treat patients with special health care needs.
