The foundation of good oral health starts with good preventive care. This includes diligent brushing and flossing at home as well as routine visits to the dentist. Regular check-ups give our dentists a chance to assess the current status of your oral health and to identify—and fix—small problems before they become big ones.
In addition to routine examinations, professional dental cleanings are essential, even if you practice good oral care at home. Plaque build-up happens to the best of us, and when it is not removed, it hardens into calculus (tartar), which can only be removed with special dental tools.
If you have young children who are cavity-prone, we can also talk to you about fluoride treatments and dental sealants to help keep cavities at bay.

I am a General Dentist who grew up in Southern California and earned my dental degree from the Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. At the start of my career, I proudly served as an active-duty military dentist in the United States Army, where I gained extensive experience in root canal therapy and emergency dentistry. That experience strengthened my ability to remain calm under pressure and provide efficient, high-quality care in urgent situations. Since returning to Southern California in 2009, I have been honored to serve the dental needs of the communities I call home. I am committed to delivering thorough, compassionate care and building long-term relationships with my patients based on trust and clear communication. Outside of dentistry, I enjoy fly fishing, fly tying, camping, and spending time with family and friends at backyard BBQs. I look forward to helping you maintain a healthy, confident smile.
Dr. Evert Michael Cowan, DDS is a compassionate general dentist who graduated from Loma Linda University in 2018. He has a broad interest in all areas of dentistry and is committed to providing comprehensive care tailored to each patient’s unique needs. Dr. Cowan takes pride in building meaningful relationships with his patients, ensuring they feel heard, understood, and well-cared-for throughout their dental journey. His approach combines clinical expertise with a dedication to delivering exceptional, patient-focused care.
Dr Truong received Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Harvard school of dental medicine, she spent three more years as a post doctor fellow in orthodontics. She received her certificate in orthodontics from Harvard University. At the same time, she was also a research fellow at the biotherapeutics laboratory of the Harvard Institute of human genetics, researching a cure and vaccine for breast cancer. She received a Master of Medical Science from Harvard University.
Dr. Truong has received several awards and honors and was listed in Who’s Who Asian American in Massachusetts in 2001. Dr Truong has been practicing dentistry for over 29 years. She hopes to help you and your family improve your oral health and comfort and achieve balance and harmony between the teeth and the face.
Her goal is not just to straighten your teeth, but to perfect your beautiful and attractive smile. Besides dentistry, Dr Truong enjoys cooking, sewing, knitting, gardening, painting, playing her “dan tranh”, a Vietnamese musical instrument, and coaching middle school students for the science Olympiad competitions.
She lives happily in San Diego with her husband, a professor at UCSD and their three sons.
Dr. Esmeraldo is a highly trained dentist with a Doctor of Dental Surgery from the renowned University of the Pacific Arthur Dugoni School of Dentistry. He further honed his skills through a one-year Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Internship at Texas A&M School of Dentistry, where he performed and assisted in numerous surgical procedures and received advanced training in IV sedation.
Dedicated to personalized, patient-focused care, Dr. Esmeraldo excels at helping patients achieve optimal oral health while ensuring comfort and confidence. For those with dental anxiety, he provides sedation options, making every visit as stress-free and positive as possible. His combination of surgical expertise and compassionate care sets him apart in the dental field.
Dr. Gene Park is a compassionate and experienced periodontist committed to providing comprehensive, patient-centered care. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from NYU College of Dentistry and continually advances his skills to offer the most advanced and effective treatment options.
Dr. Park approaches dentistry as a blend of science, determination, and empathy, prioritizing patient comfort and collaborating closely with referring doctors. He is an active member of professional organizations, including the ADA, CDA, OCDS, AO, AAP, and CSP.
Outside the office, Dr. Park enjoys playing piano and cello, hiking with his dog, traveling, attending concerts, and snowboarding.
